Our Farm

Housed on 93 acres and owned by Bloomfield Hills Schools since 1967.  Animals such as sheep, horses, cattle, and goats graze the pastures along with acres of vegetable production, community gardens, and curated horticultural gardens.

Our mission is to cultivate community through education and engagement with agriculture and the local food system. 

The authenticity of a small-scale working farm connects students and the community to where their food comes from. Learning comes alive with meaning and purpose as we welcome every learner to discover and wonder in the world around them. Bowers School Farm has something to explore each season!

Everything Harvest:

It’s chilly outside today so we are grateful to be spending the afternoon harvesting inside the hoop house.
Planting season has begun! Last week planted several beds with cabbage, broccoli, and more. This week we’ll be adding onions and scallions.
We’ve just begun planting outside but we are harvesting a good selection of veggies from the hoop house. Radish, spinach, baby chard, carrots, and scallions are available in the farm store this weekend. And chef Kathy has made a salad out of al
So many little veggie transplants are ready to be planted in the field. We moved them outside yesterday so they can get acclimated to the elements before we put them in the ground. By Thursday we should have the beds prepped, the irrigation set up,

It must be Spring because the garlic is coming up! We are growing more than 2,000 bulbs and 7 varieties, both hard neck and soft neck.

And so it begins. We have tomato and onion plants germinating in the greenhouse, with more plants being seeded every week. There is so much possibility in these little seedlings!
It’s compost delivery day! We have a lot of work to do to get this spread over our vegetable fields but are excited about all the good things we’ll be growing in it.
