Preservation Bloomfield
About
Preservation Bloomfield is a non-profit, all-volunteer community organization formed to preserve and protect two historically-relevant homes in Bloomfield, Michigan, namely the Barton Farmhouse and Craig Log Cabin.
The modest mid-1800's family homes are examples of early architecture by settlers in Bloomfield. They were separately relocated to the Bowers School Farm in 2008. This idyllic setting on public school property and working farm is nestled in the heart of Oakland County convenient to I-75.
A Community Effort
Preservation Bloomfield, a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization, grew out of a unique and ongoing collaboration of the City of Bloomfield Hills, the Charter Township of Bloomfield, the Bloomfield Hills Schools, and the Bloomfield Historical Society to save two pre-Civil War Bloomfield homes, the Barton Farmhouse and the Craig Log Cabin.
With enthusiastic support from the community, Preservation Bloomfield moved both homes to the Bowers School Farm and restored them to be used in the educational and social enrichment of our children and community at large. They provide an authentic setting for school classes to experience the story of our local history as well as a venue for group meetings such as book clubs, recitals, and corporate retreats.
