Bowers Farm is dedicated to land and environmental health which in turn supports its agricultural missions and learning. We are continually expanding our efforts in composting and recycling to act responsibly and educate visitors.

This page provides extensive information to allow you to do your part in a journey to a healthier planet. We provide information from household waste to establishing your own backyard composting bin while sifting through the extensive information to bring you critical updates.

Why compost?

Worm (Vermicomposting) Rental Kits

We provide all supplies needed, such as worms, bedding, and educational materials, to get you started. A knowledgeable Bowers staff person will be available to answer any questions via email. In addition, you will have access to the Bowers Worm Farm Resources Google Drive to engage learners in this educational, rewarding experience easily.

$45 per kit (3 month rental)

Paper Recycling at Bowers Farm

We ask the public to support us in recycling efforts by bringing papers from home or business, and add them to the lard yellow/green paper recycling dumpster on the east end of the parking lot. This helps us earn money for our programs.

Accepted Items:

  • Newspaper

  • Magazines

  • Shopping Catalogs

  • Mail

  • School Papers

  • Office Papers

  • Envelopes

  • Books and Phone Books

Not Accepted Items:

  • NO cardboard

  • NO cereal/soda cartons

  • NO food wrap/containers

  • NO tissue products

  • NO plastic

  • NO glass

Does this really benefit?

By recycling 1 ton of paper, we save in resources:

  • 4,102 kwh less electricity

  • 60 lbs less green house gas

  • 7,000 gallons less water

  • 390 gallons of oil
