Saddling Up for a New Season at Bowers Riding School! 🐴🌞
Spring has officially arrived, and with it, the Bowers Riding School is back in full swing! Last week, our pastures and paddocks came alive with the sound of hooves, laughter, and the excited chatter of over 35 riders—all eager to begin their riding journey or continue building their horsemanship skills.
Our group this session includes a wonderful mix of riders of all ages and skill levels—from our Green Beginner Level I students, who are just starting to find their seat in the saddle, to our White Beginner Level III riders, who are refining their technique and growing their confidence with every ride.
It was especially heartwarming to see our new riders step into the barn for the very first time. Their wide eyes and huge smiles as they met the herd were priceless! For many, this was their first hands-on experience with horses—grooming, leading, and of course, mounting up. There’s nothing quite like the bond that begins to form between a horse and a new rider, and we’re so excited to watch these relationships grow over the course of the 8-week session.
Meanwhile, our returning riders came in full of excitement, ready to reunite with their horse partners and reconnect with their riding friends. The barn buzzed with familiar faces, joyful reunions, and the promise of new memories to be made. One of the best parts of Bowers is the sense of community that forms among our riders—sharing in each other’s triumphs, supporting one another through challenges, and celebrating progress big and small.
A big congratulations is in order for the 15 new riders who officially joined the Bowers Riding School family by earning their Bowers vests and Pink Patches! These young equestrians have taken the first big step in their riding journey, and we’re so proud of their enthusiasm, courage, and dedication. It’s always inspiring to witness those early milestones—and to know they’re just the beginning of something really special.
As an instructor, my goal goes beyond simply teaching students how to swing a leg over a horse and steer around the arena. I aim to create a true understanding of what it means to work with and care for horses—to build trust, communicate clearly, and develop a partnership grounded in mutual respect. More than anything, I want each student to gain a sense of independence and confidence—not just in the saddle, but in the barn, on the ground, and in themselves. Watching that transformation unfold over time is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do here.
As we head into the rest of the spring session, there’s already a buzz about what’s next. I’m thrilled to share that planning for our Summer Riding School Sessions is already underway! Summer brings longer days, more time in the saddle, and even more opportunities for our riders to connect with horses, nature, and each other.
Whether you're a seasoned rider returning for another summer or a brand-new student thinking about taking the reins for the first time, we can’t wait to welcome you to Bowers. Keep an eye out for more updates, photos, and stories from the barn—there’s so much more to come, and we’re just getting started.
Until then, happy trails and happy grooming! 🐎💚
See you in the saddle,
Ms. Lou
