Getting Ready
Welcome to the Bowers Farm Camp Blog! My name is Amy Harris and I am the camp photographer. I will be posting on the blog on Mondays. The past few days have been spent getting ready to host your campers next week. Our staff has been learning all about the farm, it’s animals, the class offerings, and the nuts and bolts of daily camp life.
I have learned so much these past few days about the care and feeding of the animals. As a staff we ran through the daily chore sheets to make sure we understood the needs of each animal. This means we got to also pet and play with the goats, sheep, cows, horses, rabbits, pig, and chickens. These chores will be done by campers next week under the guidance of our staff.
Another important part of our training has been safety. We learned all about campfire safety and rewarded our learning with smores. We went over camper safety as well and are prepared to handle emergencies. We have a few more days of training and have the Summer Solstice Celebration on Friday to give our staff a chance to get into camp mode.
Full camp starts June 24th and we are looking forward to having campers on the farm. We hope to see you soon!
