Camperships

Our programs strive to provide immersive and meaningful farm and nature based experiences to all, regardless of income level. Summer Camp Programs are available for youth ages 3-14. Through the Friends of Bowers Farm and Friends of Johnson Nature Center non-profits and other generous donations, Camperships [financial aid scholarships] are awarded to families who meet the financial aid guidelines. Applications are reviewed each spring and aid is awarded for the following summer’s camp season. A limited number of camp spaces are designated to youth who receive financial assistance.

Due to limited financial resources, we are unable to grant scholarships to every deserving applicant. Camperships are partial, covering 30%, 60%, or 90% of camp tuition. In an effort to reduce biases and barriers, a weighted lottery system is used when reviewing and awarding aid. Financial aid awards cover only the cost of camp tuition and do not cover extended programming, additional meals, supplies, nor transportation costs to and from camp.

If you believe that your child is a candidate for a Campership, you are invited to complete an application. If you are an advocate for a child, such as another family member, teacher, coach, medical provider, etc., we invite you to complete an application on the child’s behalf.

Campership Guidelines

  • Applicants may not register for camp AND apply for financial aid

  • Camper must be 3-13 years old at the time of the camp session

  • An application must be submitted for each child, for families with multiple children. Submitting an application for multiple children will not decrease the likelihood of being awarded aid.

  • Campers can recieve only one Campership per year

  • A new application must be submitted each year, per camper

  • There is no application fee or required documents outside of this application

  • Submitting a financial aid application does not guarantee receipt of aid
