Saving the Earth at Home? Yes! It is easy when you have a list!

The World is on Fire; We’ve paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Many song lyrics reference climate change, and these songs and issues can get stuck in our brains - leading to a near standstill of ‘oh my gosh, what can we do’ or ‘it’s too late’ feeling. Yet the playlist is on repeat…let’s see what we can do to hear the next song.

This blog is to help you and your kids find little ways to learn how to do better, to do different, and to inspire change - starting at home!

  1. Where are you living today: your challenge is to complete an impact analysis. There are two options: one is an Ecological Footprint, which looks at things greater than just carbon emissions and is a bit more relatable. The other is a Carbon Footprint analysis, which looks at real-time data for a true look at how your home operates. The Carbon Footprint tool is great for older kids; this can help them learn how to read utility bills. You’ll see an immediate action plan that families can do together!

  2. Make a family pledge to do at least three of the items on the list below: change it up each month!

  3. Tell other people in your lives that you did this and challenge them to join you!

What do you choose this month?

Together, we can make a difference! Moreover, we can teach the younger generations ways to live that will be less impactful on our environment.

  • Check off that first item - start talking about making a difference at home!
